Europe’s Rapidly Growing Truck Service Innovation Hub Unites 147 Heavy-Duty Repair Centers to Shape the Sector’s Digital Future

Over the past few years, a new model has been emerging within Europe’s heavy-duty vehicle repair and maintenance sector. Founded in Paris, Truck Service Innovation Hub has become one of the industry’s most influential innovation platforms, bringing together 147 heavy-duty truck service centers across six Western European countries: Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Italy, and Spain.

The network’s combined annual turnover reaches approximately €481 million, with more than 3,350 employees working across its member service centers. This scale enables the organization to operate not only as a networking platform, but also as a tangible driver of structural change, capable of influencing the strategic direction of the sector across Europe.

“Our members are united by a clear mission: to modernize and decarbonize the heavy-duty vehicle service industry. This is not about isolated initiatives, but about systemic change across the entire value chain,” says Tomas Karpavičius, founder and CEO of Truck Service Innovation Hub.

Digitalization as the Foundation of Competitiveness and Transparency

Digital transformation lies at the core of the association’s strategy. Its activities focus on the digitalization of work planning, maintenance processes, diagnostics, spare parts management, data analytics, and customer service systems across service centers throughout Europe.

According to Karpavičius, digital solutions are becoming essential not only for improving operational efficiency, but also for achieving long-term sustainability.

“Without digital tools, it is impossible to meaningfully reduce emissions or accurately track energy consumption, material use, and waste flows. Data-driven operations are the foundation of the green transition,” he emphasizes.

Environmental Responsibility as an Operational Standard

Alongside technological progress, environmental responsibility represents a core pillar of Truck Service Innovation Hub’s activities. The association actively promotes and implements practices aimed at reducing the environmental footprint of heavy-duty vehicle service operations — from emissions reduction measures to the adoption of more sustainable technologies and processes in daily operations.

The organization works closely with its members to foster a responsible environmental culture and to ensure that implemented solutions comply with European Union regulations and internationally recognized environmental standards.

Sustainability as a Long-Term Strategic Principle

Rather than pursuing short-term objectives, Truck Service Innovation Hub operates under a long-term sustainability strategy. This includes reducing carbon footprints, improving energy efficiency, minimizing waste, and applying circular economy principles across service centers.

“Our goal is for every service center to become an integral part of the sustainable transition. Green technologies should not be the exception — they must become standard practice throughout the industry,” says Karpavičius.

Active Dialogue with Public Authorities

Beyond operational initiatives, the association plays an active role in regulatory discussions at the European level. In recent months, Truck Service Innovation Hub has submitted proposals to the Belgian government regarding upcoming environmental regulations. These recommendations were developed throughout 2025 in collaboration with experts in law, economics, risk management, sustainability, and environmental policy.

Looking ahead, the association plans to submit recommendations to the European Commission, advocating for environmental regulations that are ambitious while remaining practically achievable.

“We support stricter environmental standards, but they must be grounded in realistic technological and economic conditions,” Karpavičius notes.

Investment and a Real-World Innovation Testing Environment

Last year, Truck Service Innovation Hub established a €10 million investment fund, which was increased to €15 million this year following strong market interest. The fund invests in startups developing solutions for heavy-duty vehicle repair, diagnostics, spare parts logistics, and service center operations.

A key advantage of the fund is its real-world testing infrastructure: startups are able to pilot their solutions across 147 operational service centers throughout Europe under actual working conditions.

Strategic Direction for the Coming Years

In the coming years, Truck Service Innovation Hub plans to further strengthen its role in Europe, with a strong focus on artificial intelligence, predictive maintenance, sustainable technologies, and closer collaboration with public institutions.

The association also aims to increase its involvement in regulatory processes, expand circular economy and waste management systems across service centers, ensure comprehensive sustainability metrics tracking, complete the digitalization of operational processes, grow its membership base, and continue investing in innovation within the heavy-duty transport sector.

“Our vision is for the heavy-duty vehicle service sector to become an efficient, fully digitalized, and sustainable part of Europe’s transport system. We aim to grow responsibly and demonstrate that this industry can be modern, transparent, and future-oriented,” Tomas Karpavičius concludes.
